In the occasion of the third lecture of Horizons in Medicine and Biology, the Class of Experimental Sciences of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is glad to welcome, as its Professor of Medicine for a day, Giuseppe Mancia, emeritus professor of Medicine in the University of Milano-Bicocca and Director of the Hypertension Centre of the University Clinical Institute Verano Brianza. Prof. Giuseppe Mancia is the maximum authority in Europe on the topic of arterial hypertension and has been coordinator of the guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology and of the European Society of Arterial Hypertension for the last ten years, as well as the principal investigator of crucial clinical studies that have set a benchmark internationally for those who study arterial hypertension.

Prof. Mancia is an innovator, a physician and hypertensiologist of international fame, and generations of medical undergraduate and residents all around the world have studied, and still study nowadays, on his books.

“Professor Mancia is one of the pioneers of hypertensiology in the world. Without his studies we wouldn’t have got to the knowledge we have now in the field, that allows physicians to save lives to those in the firing line of the silent killer, which is arterial hypertension. Despite his age, he still is a passionate scientist, always striving towards new frontiers. He immediately accepted with great enthusiasm the invitation to know the Medical Students of the Scuola Sant’Anna. In front of the students of the Scuola Sant’Anna, of the University of Pisa and of the Scuola Normale Superiore, on March 18th, at 18:00 in the Aula Magna, one of the most cited clinical scientist according to the Thomson Reuters Corporation and the first Italian scientist to be mentioned in the prestigious PLoS Biology list of 2019 will held his lecture” says Prof. Vincenzo Lionetti, Associate Professor of Anaesthesiology and coordinator of Horizons in Medicine and Biology
